The Indigenous Marathon Project
We are proud to continue our support for the Indigenous Marathon Project! World Marathon Champion, Rob De Castella and his team provide amazing opportunities for Indigenous people to grow, develop and inspire through sport.
Put simply, IMP uses running to change lives. The marathon was chosen as a vehicle to promote healthy lifestyles to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The project annually selects a group of young Indigenous men and women to complete the New York City Marathon with just six months of training.
After crossing the finish line of the biggest marathon in the world, they know they can achieve anything. These runners are trained to become healthy lifestyle leaders by completing a Certificate III in Fitness with a focus on Indigenous Healthy Lifestyle. Runners become role models within their communities and are leaders in the promotion of health and physical exercise to address the high instance of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and renal failure.
Join us in supporting this wonderful foundation, and ensure our people can all experience the benefits of being involved in sport. You can make a donation to the IMP Foundation as part of your entry.
